Good idea and sounds like fun, but we just quadrupled the amount of work that the army list verifiers have to do...

This.

Honestly, while I tend to prefer larger games in general, smaller games are good for tournaments because a) Makes it easier to finish the game b) less models to lug around and c) less of a disadvantage for horde and/or assault armies, which tend to do most of thei damage from T3 and onwards.

1500 pts gets my vote.

40k format for next GS?

I think I'd be down for 1500 points as well. It's harder to just use everything in the codex so you get more unique, memorable lists.

40K Armies Played: Space Wolves, Space Sharks, Orks, Tau, eventually CSM (MSons + Bile)
Blood Bowl: Ought'Ta WAAAGH Roughriderz (Orcs), The North Spire Wendigoes (Norse) Iron-Wrath Krakens (Chaos Dwarfs, WIP), Scarlet Fliers (Dark Elves, WIP)
Heavy Gear Blitz/Arena: Peace River Defence Force, Paxton Gears in Arena
Necromunda: MacGuffin's Marauders (Van Saar)
Malifaux:Built: C.Hoffman Boxed: Rasputina, Pertitia, some extra models for both

(I'm Mike, by the way. Easier to remember than Tokkan, probably. DEFINITELY easier to pronounce)

I've always had the most fun playing 40k at 1500 pts I find as the points levels rise some army books that are already good get much better and some that are ok get worse.

Now I don't want this to seem like an attack (really really don't) but does paying the regular tourney fee for a lesser points value game really make a difference? I'm sure the atmosphere, table quality, prizes and fun will all be on the same level. All that's changed is the chance to complete more games and possibly see that turn 7 last ditch effort lol.

Just my opinion!

I concur. As long as the venue and prizes are in line with the ticket cost, I don't think the points level is really a factor.

It's true. And while I really like the idea (I honestly do) I also know that a lot of people will get confused. "What? I'm supposed to bring a 1000 point list? I only brought an 1850. WTF?", "The second game is 1250? I thought it was 1350?", etc. etc.

That having been said, we're kinda working on some ideas in a "games that increase while you play" vein. We'll get back to ya.

It doesn't cost less to make the tables, get the terrain, rent the room, organize, etc... so I don't see why the price would be tied to the point value.

I agree completely I was just refering to an earlier post where someone had mentioned not wanting to pay over X amount for a smaller point valued tourney. I can't even imagine the costs for tables and prizes, let alone time for all the organizing...speaking of which have you been thanked for all your work on these events recently? lol THANKS!

Thanks, man. :) No praise for me would be complete without putting the lion's share on my partner Marquis' shoulders or slicing off a nice big chunk for TheRoyalFalcon, who has been at the helm of several Game Summit tournaments now.

I agree as long as the games are designed to last between 1.5hours to 2.5 hours!

Another point I want to bring up, is that the option of 6 games at 1250 points? That's just me tho!

I know some people I'm sure would rather play 3 games at 2500 points
