1500 would work for me. This'll be my first tournament so that's less to paint. hehe.

I like the sound of 1750-1700 over 1500 but I'd be fine with 1500 as well.

for the tournaments do the models have to be GW models (suppose I wanted to use another companies orks or elves)
just out of curiosity (I am sure such things don't matter in the pick up gaming)

I'm 99% confident in saying "Yes, you cannot use non-GW models" to that, as it's a GW-sponsored event. It'd be like bringing a Corvette to a Ferrari competition. Sure, they both look nice and go fast and do generally the same things, but they're just not the same.

Unless you intend on converting all of the other company models to contain GW stuff, of course. (Like how my Thunderwolves aren't GW, but the riders are). Headswaps, things like that.
40K Armies Played: Space Wolves, Space Sharks, Orks, Tau, eventually CSM (MSons + Bile)
Blood Bowl: Ought'Ta WAAAGH Roughriderz (Orcs), The North Spire Wendigoes (Norse) Iron-Wrath Krakens (Chaos Dwarfs, WIP), Scarlet Fliers (Dark Elves, WIP)
Heavy Gear Blitz/Arena: Peace River Defence Force, Paxton Gears in Arena
Necromunda: MacGuffin's Marauders (Van Saar)
Malifaux:Built: C.Hoffman Boxed: Rasputina, Pertitia, some extra models for both

(I'm Mike, by the way. Easier to remember than Tokkan, probably. DEFINITELY easier to pronounce)

Yes, and one mission needs to be titled All Your Base. The objective for one player is to 'set up us the bomb' and the other player has to 'move Zig for great justice'.

Tournaments? Each model needs to be 75% GW parts or more. Open gaming? Knock yourself out.

I usually play a 1850 game usually and i find that even difficult to win with. Droping it down to 1500 might get rid of the tableing i'm so used to with special characters and crazy lists. I undertand there will still be one or two people that will bring outragouse list to try table you in 2 turns, but it will be more difficult for them i would think.
I'm in for 1500!
