40k format for next GS?

Postby Chooka » Wed Sep 28, 2011 10:17 am

To clarify for some curious people. Can I use a FW version of a GW model? Example is lets say the FW hive tyrant. GW makes one, but is it ok to use FWs? Or the FW daemon prince etc etc.
As to on topic of points. I've always enjoyed the larger games (1750-1850).

Yes you can use any forgeworld model that is equivilant to a GW model as the GW model rule wise. I mean the forgeworld models just look so awesome.

I also prefer games at 1750-1850, but I can easily do 1500...

...Now whether or not I get the army I'd like to bring painted is an entirely different matter.

For my long tournament career the point value was always 1500 pts. It was so nice when GS went to 1850 pts. It made it stand out in my mind. So I vote 1850 pts.

1850 is becoming the standard across most NA tourneys AFAIK. 1500 pts would actually differentiate GS more than keeping 1850.

I'm all for the 1500-1700 threshold, should hopefully make things a little more balanced.

one other big advantage to 1500 is the game length,

you get more turns in, especially when swarm armies are concerned,

just sayin

Playing 1500 on a 6'x4' board can be potentially brutal. It leaves a lot of open space to cover and can be punishing to a combat army facing a shooty army. Definitely makes for faster games, though.
