Hopefully not THAT mom. We don't mention her online at her son's request.

Entering this conversation abit late but I am thinking about pre-ordering one of these.
Having never bought forgeworld stuff can anyone comment on the quality of there "big" kits... i.e anyone ever received one with defects.. how well do the models usually go together without breaking out the file.
how easy is resin to work with and paint.
Is this the type of thing that GW will eventually put out in plastic? Do they allow forgeworld kits at tournys/ is it ok to do pick up games with forgeworld kits?

Thanks for the input all.
On a side note this looks like an amazing kit!

Well you gotta basically clean it in soap and water because it has a kinda greasy release agent on it. The flash usually comes off pretty easily, the only annoying part is sometime pieces can need to be bent back into shape so you have to run hot water over them until they become pliable and then bend the piece or pieces back into their original shape. The other thing to know about forgeworld is shipping can be a bit expensive.
Cinematic.... Narrative....

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

On this front, odds are GW won't release the kit in plastic. They've cribbed some things from FW in the past, but the vast majority of the FW stuff is unique to them. Never hurts to have a backup list that has the FW stuff taken out, though. :)

As for pickup games, I haven't had any issues with bringing FW stuff myself for pickup games, but I'm always sure to inform the opponent first, let them know the different rules, and have the book available just in case. I only have the smaller-scale stuff anyways, though, so it's not as much of an issue than (say) bringing the FW tanks or fliers.
40K Armies Played: Space Wolves, Space Sharks, Orks, Tau, eventually CSM (MSons + Bile)
Blood Bowl: Ought'Ta WAAAGH Roughriderz (Orcs), The North Spire Wendigoes (Norse) Iron-Wrath Krakens (Chaos Dwarfs, WIP), Scarlet Fliers (Dark Elves, WIP)
Heavy Gear Blitz/Arena: Peace River Defence Force, Paxton Gears in Arena
Necromunda: MacGuffin's Marauders (Van Saar)
Malifaux:Built: C.Hoffman Boxed: Rasputina, Pertitia, some extra models for both

(I'm Mike, by the way. Easier to remember than Tokkan, probably. DEFINITELY easier to pronounce)

Paint it well and people will want to play against it just cause it looks awesome! :D I know that's why I kinda like seeing Tau and Eldar flyers on the table; but only when my Guard has spammed Hydra's :P.

Always assume that there will be file work to be done. But Crab has pretty much covered the bases on what to expect.

I'm going to hold off til' the new SM codex is out ((what with the rumors of such)) and the rumors of it going to allow the Storm Raven for Vanilla Marines; in which case I'll want two Storm Ravens and one Eagle for my Smurfs. It not only would look awesome in formation; I think it'd be a great combination.

Bah, probably spending too much on 40k models :P.
