Re: Question about poison weapons.

I think what he's trying to say is that right now, if you would normally have to roll a 3+ to wound if you're comparing Strength to Toughness, but have poisoned attacks that instead wound on a 4+ in all cases regardless of the to wound chart, it is no longer beneficial to have poisoned attacks in such a situation.

So, as a result, Topher is proposing and/or hoping that the rule be clarified and changed such that if your to-wound roll would normally be better than the one provided to you by the poisoned attacks rule, you should get the better of the two. In that case, according to my example above, the attacks would wound on a 3+ if the difference in S and T permits, but would wound on a 4+ if, say, the attacks would normally wound on a 5+.

Am I understanding Topher correctly?

4+ with a reroll is statistically better than a 3+. The only advantage comes when comparing a 2+ to that 4+ w/reroll.

(is there an internet shorthand for reroll yet? like how 4++ means invulnerable?)

The rules are what they are, just because one thing doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean it's wrong. It also doesn't mean GW intended it to be that way, but we will never know until it's errata'd.

I'm getting tempted to just make all rerolls either a TL prefix, or RR prefix. Twinlinked wound infliction!

On the subject of S vs. T, what is there in the game that Has T of 8-10 anyways? Because those are the only times I can think of where a 'fex'd want poison...
40K Armies Played: Space Wolves, Space Sharks, Orks, Tau, eventually CSM (MSons + Bile)
Blood Bowl: Ought'Ta WAAAGH Roughriderz (Orcs), The North Spire Wendigoes (Norse) Iron-Wrath Krakens (Chaos Dwarfs, WIP), Scarlet Fliers (Dark Elves, WIP)
Heavy Gear Blitz/Arena: Peace River Defence Force, Paxton Gears in Arena
Necromunda: MacGuffin's Marauders (Van Saar)
Malifaux:Built: C.Hoffman Boxed: Rasputina, Pertitia, some extra models for both

(I'm Mike, by the way. Easier to remember than Tokkan, probably. DEFINITELY easier to pronounce)

Hey guys

I just wanted to post something in case you don't browse the GW FAQ's often

I was looking at the nid Faq and noticed a few things that had been discussed before
First 2 in here (my questions about nid transports ... Bummer I liked the old answers ;-) lol )
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4566

Q: If a Tyranid unit takes a Mycetic Spore, can an
Independent Character join the brood before
deployment (and hence deep strike in with the brood)?
A: No.

Q: If a Tyranid unit takes a Mycetic Spore, can it choose
to deploy normally whilst the empty Mycetic Spore
deep strikes on its own?
A: No.

this one here (tank shock vs spore)
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4649

Q: A Mycetic Spore cannot move itself once it has
entered the battle, but can it be moved by another
model (e.g. by a Mawloc’s Terror from the Deep special
rule)?
A: Yes.

I didn't think I should revive the old threads ;-)
Cheers

this thread is strange and disjointed

:S

anyhow,

why wound rending make a power wepon not ignore armour.. :S

i give rending to S4 power weapons all the time, its actually really good, means you have a chance to hurt Arm13..

Gargantuan creatures are only wounded by poison and sniper weapons on a 6+. I guess the poison would still give guys the chance to wound my Toughness 9 monstrosity. :P

Imagine how the new Dark Eldar are going to work out, with just about everything being at least 4+ poisoned.
