Okay, crazy idea (involves Valks)

How would you feel playing against a counts-as Valkyrie modeled as a sub-terrainian apc? you know, like thunderbird 3, like Nod had in Tiberian sun: http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Subterranean_Armoured_Personnel_Carrier

basically it would ignore terrain as a skimmer by traveling underground... I just wouldn't use the grav shute insertion I guess  is this too much of a stretch?

I'd be cool with it - but only if it were underground only before it Deep Strikes. The Skimmer rules would be weird to reconcile against it, though... but maybe it's a Subterranean VTOL APC!!! As soon as it comes out from underground, it fires off the jets, floats and makes the enemy ruin their pants... in a bad way!

I was thinking it would deep strike onto the table, and then when it moves normally its just travelling underground but not very deep

Sounds interesting. I wouldn't have any trouble playing against it especially if its a sweet looking model (which isn't normally an issue with you :P )

I'd be down, how big would it be compared to a valk? How would the weapons be mounted?

Cool. Does it have any weapons? It'd be more satisfying if you make up a unit entry - how about this?

DEDICATED TRANSPORT
SUBTERRANEAN APC.....50 Points
BS3, F11, S11, R11

Composition: 1 APC

Unit Type: Tank

Transport Capacity: 12 models

Wargear: Heavy Drill

Special Rules: Heavy Drill: Used to tunnel the APC into position, the Subterranean APC may be placed in reserve and enter the game via Deep Strike, even if this rule is not being used in the current mission. The heavy drill may also be employed as weapon. When ramming (or being rammed by) another vehicle, treat the Subterranean APC's front armour as 13.

Space Marines, Ultramarines (4,600 points)
> 1st Overall: GS Doubles 2013
Imperial Guard, Elysian Drop Troop Regiment (500 points)

I love it... I think I will add that to my list of units that dont have rules close enough to them in the ig book. I was just throwing an idea around but I think ide make it an apoc only thing, as I'de give it the ability to re-deepstrike...awesome, Chimera :D

Pripyat used something just like that in GM with his Death Korps... though it was alot nastier than being rammed by AV13... I want to say large template STR10 might be wrong on that.

Why don't you use the forge world rules for the drill and VDR it?
