yeah wrecks count as difficult and dangerouse

and with true LOS if you are puttign down a crater you woudl eb hard pressed to argue that it does not allow cover,

to be honest i dont really care,

I play it that if there is a crater it counts as a crater in all respects, if there is nothing then there is nothing,

just play it as it is,

but wrecks - IE 5 on vehicle damage count as difficult and dangerous terrain..

technically a crater would be below ground level, you would only get a save if you were in it, as if you were behind it you could see clear accross. but the crater models are obviously above ground... personally ill probably just bring some string to represent the craters as my stuff gets blows to bits. just to show where the difficult ground is.

Actually, a real crater formed by a blast would have a raised lip, as the force of the blast would push the dirt way from the impact point, and it would pile up. So the center of the crater would be beneath ground level but the earth around it would be raised.

I agree with corey here, and I also think that lothlanparty has a good idea with the string!

I like leaving the wreck with the fire tokens from GF9 for the burning wrecks. Craters, we usually use the craters, though the big melted styrofoam rock was perfect for a Melta-ed Land raider turned to slag :)

the string is just easy to do, it jsut shows where the difficult terrain is, it doesn't look nice, but for tournaments its just quick to do.

really it should be a crater anyways, it should still be scrap metal and part of the hull, no tank completely disapears when it blows up.

Its easy to make quick craters, just take some plastic card and some putty of some sort and put it around the edges of the card, put some stand on it, spray it black, dry brush some brown or whatever, it works for the purposes you need it for.

if you add some extra cut up bits from the vehicle sprue your crater woudl look pretty good actually, and it woudl be certainly on the cheap :)

what i like abotu that is that you can makse big ones and some litte ones,
