For the two of you who don't know, OCTranspo's on strike. This means I'm pretty much trapped in my apartment for the foreseeable future. (I can get out for work and essentials, but that's about it)
So, between that and having just finished mechanicus, I find myself once again looking at the possibilty of building a knight titan.
Not the simplest of tasks, but I think I've beaten the first hurdle: the Skeleton. This was a major issue for me for some time, I'd like to build it from the inside out so it doesn't just look like boxes stacked on each other, but I couldn't find anything that would work for the skeleton. Until now. I was looking at my bookshelf the other day and said to myself "you know, that Gundam models looks about perfect size for a knight titan... I wonder."
So, the end goal of this blog is to turn this:

into a rough approximation of this:

for starters, a quick idea of how I plan to go about that. (Marine sketch included for scale, since I forgot to put one in the picture)

I'll probably end up spreading the legs a little wider, and the model actually comes with a decent bit to use for the hanging crotch armour (you can actually see it on the pile-o-stuff-I-stripped-off-this-thing in the foreground). Also as much as I prefer the Mars pattern rounded carapace, I acknowledge freely that such a task would be tantamount to insanity given my skill with plasticard. So it will be the blockier Lucius pattern.
For the gun I'm hoping to use the spare thunderfire cannon I have hanging around, but I don't know how well that will work out, with the extra weight and all. I have plenty of extra weapons barrels I can make a different gun out of if I have to (including the bazooka and missile launcher the model comes with, in fact). For the Close Combat weapon I want to give it a power fist. But it seems like it'd be aweful bulky to be made out of greenstuff. is there something better out there (particularly something I might be able to find at Michaels) for trying to sculpt a fist roughly the size of a space marine? I'm not a terribly good sculpter, so that'll be one of the more challengine elements of this build.
Now, I just have to actually do it. :P Here's hoping the blog will give me some incentive to not abandon this like I have some of my past plasticard projects.
