Hey guys i was wondering what you guys thought of this color scheme for my homemade Eldar Craftworld:



The theme is that the craftworlds maiden world was a Planet covered by lush forests and a beautiful mountain range. The (thinking of name) learned to train the Ancient monsters know as dragons ( im gonna convert high elve dragons and dragon princes into stand-in's for Eldar Jet fighter's and jet bike's.) I'm gonna make up more fluff later on!

I think you will get a lot of Halloween and pumpkin jokes made. Personally I don't like black and orange together, much prefer orange and white.

I actually love orange and black together. So.. go figure.

I would just caution, that if you have not tried to paint bright colours over black base coats, to test it out on a model as you might find it to be more work than you want to put in per model. That being said, I do appreciate the contrast of the 2 colours, and if you can get the orange to be bright and consistent then I think it would look pretty cool.

Foundation paints will be your friend in that case.

When I'm doing a paint scheme, I come up with two primary colors, one secondary, and at least two "ornament" colors. For instance, my Eldar army's colors were bone and green, purple being the secondary color and the gems were ice blue while other doo-dads were black. So I did my Wave Serpents in bone with a big green stripe, then purple details, ice blue gems and exhaust being black.

You may want to take a similar approach: Two primary, one secondary, two "ornaments".

Using a paler/more yellow shade of orange might mitigate the overbearing Halloweenyness of it.

If it were my project I'd verge closer to bumblebees than jack o'lanterns.

Or augment the orange with that lighter, yellower shade.

Me too. And I've always liked seeing orange on the table.
