If the comment is sarcasm- I dont know, I dont think it hurts for GW to offer suggestions, in fact I think its helpful since most people who start want to paint the way GW does. Or aspire to be as good as GW eavy metal painters.

GW is just doing what most hobbyists want, paint recipes, what colours do you use, and what order, how do i do that? In a simple straight up format when you go and buy paints. It lets you make a purchase quicker. Space marine models, ultramarine theme, paints to do them like GW? Yes please!

If not sarcasm- It certainly wont make anyone better at painting, neither does switching paint brands, or using washes, or any of that stuff, but getting better takes work, and they cant really offer "hard work" as a product or no one would buy it! :p

At least thats how i see it

There was no sarcasm. Helping novice painters with colour selection so that their work is going to match nicely is going to help a lot of people out with getting a good look. People trying to meet a 3 colour minimum will find it much easier with things like that guide I linked to.

As to your second comment, you don't think colour selection is a part of being a good painter ? Sure it wont beat out technique, but great technique a terrible selection is going to make for some ugly models. And for the person who's first attempts come out as well as some will now with this guide they are going to feel good about the result and staying motivated to practice is going to help make better painters too.

Well I like the fact the white, reds and yellows are covering better and the metallic's are still watered down enough as ever.

All the best techniques and skill in the world won't mean a thing if your colour selection is terrible. Both colour choices and skill are very important, one won't do anything alone. I consider myself a good 'tabletop standard' painter and I have no need to aspire for more skill, as I have a defined ratio in mind of time spent: quality of models. I don't want to spend an hour to 6 hours per model if I have to paint 100 of them. I bought some of the new GW paints simply because I can buy paint A B and C and know I have my base colour, my layer and my highlight. No wasted time by trying to mix paints or match old mixes I made. For $15 I have the 3 colours I need and nothing else matters, and I think that is important to a lot of painters these days where time is at more of a premium then when we were younger and time was a luxury.
