Blog Restarted

A game for those who like their World War II re-enactments very, very small.

That workshop is amazing! Did you design and scratchbuild it? Also, where did you get the inspiration for the painted-on sign?

I like the tracks in the field of tall grass - how did you model them?

I don't know all that much about vineyards, but I gather that gravel is sometimes spread around the vines, perhaps to prevent competition from weeds. Of course, that may vary with the region.

I'm not so sure about coniferous woods so near the Normandy coast, though. Perhaps, if it is marshy ground, but then would there be hardwoods instead? In fact, since the river is so close to the sea, one would expect it to flow into the sea very soon, and a marsh seems rather likely.

Finally, are those 1' terrain squares?

The board is multi designed so artistic license is a must - the board will for the most part not have the beach on the board so usally will not be there - so imagine its some distance from the beach.

I really like how you were able to create a cliff w/o having to make the rest of the terrain 1/1/1 cubes! Given that it's completely flat I would think that something like a sea wall (concrete barricade) running along the top of the beach would really help the rest of the optics -- doesn't having to be major but I think it's pretty common for that part of the North Atlantic.

When I was there, the sea walls overlooking a beach, they were only on "beaches" where tourists would go. Given that these make ideal landing grounds for invasions is purely coincidence! I'd say no sea walls if there is almost no sand, and if they scaled any cliffs (like.. I cant remeber the beachhead but they did) that area wouldnt have a seawall.

Looks amazing as usual though man!!
"Yo Dennis" - some loser

The sea walls weren't for the benefit of tourists -- it was to protect the town from storms! Also the sea walls would be needed since it's all very flat, so optically the town isn't protected from flooding by an increase in elevation.

However probably the best option is to extent the rock/'cliff' all of the way down.

Or ignore me :p

Those buildings are great. Who makes them?

I should mention the board has the sand/beach as add on - its outside the 6x4 table design. SO I had to make it a combination of beach and town transition that would both good together and as seperate.
