So now that version 3 has been out for awhile and most people have been able to play a few games, I am wondering how people like the changes?

Personally I like most of the changes, smoke bombardments are allot less powerful now which is good, and transport teams seem to have been fixed, I like the stopping a tank assault thing but it seems to me that most platoons that are likely to get 2 effective hits were not a good idea to assault with tanks anyway.

The 1 thing I am not sure about is the change to MG teams and HMG teams when pinned. I was playing on Saturday with my Sturm Kompanie against some russians and my infantry platoon (6 MG Panzerfaust Teams + Panzerfaust SMG Team + 1 attached HMG) was almost always able to get 11 dice for defensive fire even when pinned. 4 MG teams had los + the HMG is a gun team so can fire over infantry that don't move, seemed like a bit much maybe, and assaulting them with tanks was no better option. I am not a fan of warrior teams contesting objectives either but that is not really a big deal.

I think Air is WAYYYYY too good now. Especially the ubiquitous (not historically though) Henschel 129L. Its impossible to take down unless you have an 88 handy. And even IF you are "concealed" all it means is they have to range in with no modifiers. big deal. I think to take down the HMG infantry tarpits, you will need some recon to lift GtG, and then main tank gun into them? Since the HMG is a gun team, you can call "guns" as priority to make sur you kill it first? DOn;t know, been runnign mostly tanks in v3, purely because I used to run a lot of Inf in v2 (my brits anyways)

I haven't tried air support, or seen it tried yet. Almost nevre used it in ver 2 either thou.

Couldn't you just take your own air support and do fighter interception? That aircraft does seem to have amazing stats, but on the other hand typhoons are pretty great also, and you can get the forward air controller in hell's highway to reduce the wave off distance.

Sure you can use recon and tanks to kill the HMG (main guns can target it even thou it's man packed as there fire power is less the 5) but you need to have tanks, and recon, and get them both in position to set it up, and pass the skill test for eyes and ears. Could be a good time to use the tank telepones rule that some of the US lists get I guess. I'm not saying it's impossible but it's allot harder then it was previously and mostly only Germans can get MG teams so its kind of 1 more German advantage.

One thing to note Mike that scary German plane is available in MW and an absolute monster to face.

I was late in the game for v2, but I like the changes so far. It hasn't broke anything yet..

Yeah though there is only one model for it. </plane nerd time> See, there was many variants, and you will note that at first it its stats are "ok" for MW, and then ridiculous for LW. They had to keep upgrading teh engines, because the armored tub plus the 1200 lb semi-automatic PaK40 gun made it fly like a brick, and there were times where after firing, the plane stalled out due to recoil loss of airspeed. They had to then only fire it in a shallow dive. However the only model for it is with the PzSpKannone (AT15 one) for LW. However, thi is probably because there were very few in MW. In fact there were more of Lothlann's Fokker C-Xs in MW than there were Hs 129's in North Africa.

however, the North Africa paint job is probably the most daunting of all time to paint:

Denis is correct, the HS129 in MW is absolutely a monster, it hits on 2+ had AT 9 and FP4+, i proxied some HS129's when i played with the guys a week and 1/2 ago and my fist airstrike almost wiped out an entire Stuart platoon( killed 1 bailed 3) and in a second game i killed 2 Shermans and bailed another again on the fist strike. All this with only 1 plane, i mean who cares about rerolling hits with 2+. This also works with P47's but what makes the HS129 a beast is flying tank which is precatically imprevious to AA fire. In the future it think people will realise that AA is less important than actually air interception.

I've only played the Panzerspah so far in V3. I will say that defensive infantry has gotten TOUGH. They are damned hard to root out and I imagine that I'll need to use my Eyes & Ears rule a LOT more.

Overall I like the rules though. They are MUCH more clear, the rulebook is so much better in terms of layout and design.

I've finally gotten the chance to play a couple of games and I totally agree that infantry list got way harder to beat if they are defending.

I also found that armoured car recce teams are no where near as good in assaults where they get pinned by 5 hits now!

I think the big thing is just like Adam said start using them for eyes and ears vs leading the assault.
