Board games for Game Summit 2012

Postby Pentadude » Sun Nov 20, 2011 5:26 pm

Hi I was wondering if anyone would be interested in any of these board games. I intend to attend the Warhammer Fantasy tournament (Saturday) and Settlers of Catan tourney (Sunday), but perhaps Friday night I could organise one of these board games. Let me know if you are interested and in which games. A Twilight Imperium game at 4 or 6 people would be AWESOME!

Here are some games of interest to me, in my personal order of priority.

1. Twilight Imperium + both expansions (board game epicness at its purest!) ~ 5 hrs
2. Runewars + Banners of War (coming out this Xmas, a blast every time!) ~ 4 hrs
3. Starcraft + Brood Wars (Victory points... nah let's just FIGHT!) ~ 3 hrs
4. Civilization boardgame (the delicate balance between diplomacy/resouce mangement/combat) ~ 3 hrs
5. Rallyman (racing game with terrific yet simple game mechanics. Lots of fun and easy to learn) ~ 45 mins
6. Memoir '44 + several expansions (A classic, plays with teams of players too) ~ 1 hr
7. Commands & Colors (didn't buy it yet but probably will, great game similar to Memoir!) ~ 1 hr

If there is enough interest I could bring a game in particular. However bear in mind that some of these are quite time-consuming, especially for new players. Does anyone know when the place opens and closes on Friday?

Cheers

If anyone wants to give Arkham Asylum a try, I want to attempt to get in a game over the weekend.. (tried to line up a game last time, but it didn't work out)..

We could post some organized/pre-planned games on the website to get some attention. I'm thinking in a form of a poll maybe?

Oh.. I'd also play Frag if anyone is interested. I tried this out at the last GameSummit and ended up buying it because I had a blast. (It's basically a 3d-shooter as a board-game, very easy to pick up..)

Twilight Imperium. Question though, if you organise your game at the summit, that mean I'll have to pay the entry fee? (Even though I won't be participating in any official events?)

The Game Summit entrance fee helps to cover most of the required expenses to provide you with a great weekend gaming experience. There's lots of events and activities included with your entrance fee besides the open gaming (grab a game from a large library of 300+ games, find other players and play!).
