The Chaos Dwarf list (properly the Legion of Azgorh) works extremely well, thank you.
You can find it in FW's Tamurkhan - The Throne of Chaos book.
In a nutshell, dwarfs with a fire and industry theme. The only lord choice is a spell caster, but with OK combat stats. These dudes are the only ones able to use the CD specific lore, which is decent, drawing on elements of Fire, Shadow and Death magic.
Heroes are the lower level spell casters and fighting characters (a CD, Bull Taurus and a Hobgoblin character).
CD core choices are solid - the somewhat pricey but solid CD warriors (options for GW, a new weapon called a fire glaive (think short ranged handgun, but acts like a halberd in CC) and the infamous blunderbuss (which acts more like a conventional shooting attack than before, but confers multiple shots and certain bonuses if you have enough models in the unit) and hobgoblin infantry. Hobgoblins are an interesting choice I'm still working on.
Specials include an elite CD infantry, the old favourite Bull Centaurs (now using the Monstrous Beasts rules to clear up the confusion re is it infantry on a cavalry base, or a really bad cavalry choice?) and a monstrous infantry choice called the K'dai fireborn - fire daemons bound in service. This is also where the bulk of warmachines reside - a flame cannon equivalent, a steam tank equivalent, and a reimagining of the Death Rocket (mortar).
Rare choices give the CDs a fast cav option with the Hobgoblin Wolfriders, a tweaked Earthshaker cannon, the Helcannon, an armoured giant, and my favourite unit - the Destroyer (monster - lots of attacks, high t, a penalty for non-magical attacks to wound this, and the Burning body rule _every model in base takes a S4 hit at the start of every CC phase) - combined with Thunderstomp it is a really nasty unit.
As a general hint, forgo flaming attacks against the army - the troops are generally immune (their armour actually gives a ward save against flaming attacks), and the k'dai actually get wounds back from such attacks! Standard anti-dwarf tactis work well - big units to soak up shooting casualties and still pack a punch, and use your probably better mobility to get around the flanks or rear of units.
I'm feeling the love for the list - it's been over 12 years from Ravening Hordes to now.
I will provide funding and research to develop tactical and strategic weapons covering a full range of needs so my choices are not limited to "hand to hand combat with swords" and "blow up the planet". - The Evil Overlord List
