Sniper rule and snapshot

Postby KrysDagger » Sun Jul 15, 2012 6:58 am

Got in a game Friday and realized that snipers that are moving or that overwatch only hit on 6 s, but as a result still get to choose who they hit in the target unit. I did not have it happen but the visual is pretty good as the mince through the ruins and take out power klaw Orkney bosses. ;)

You're right - there's nothing in the Sniper or Precision Strike rules or in the weapon entry that says you can't precision strike when snap shooting. Seems counter-intuitive since, by definition, you aren't aiming, but whatever, it's legal!

I keep forgetting units that go to ground can still snap shoot. Gotta remember that.

Read the last sentence of the Precision Shots rule on page 63. :D

The short answer is no that doesn't work. You don't get Precision Fire when snap firing; however if you were shooting at BS 1 without snap fire in your own shooting phase you would.

Edited to clarify some stuff

It's obviously early in the morning for me to have missed that sentence. :? I thought I had read that before. Thanks for pointing it out!

that makes much more sense. It occured to me that by simply moving my broadside, he could only hit on sixes, which were precision shots (twin linked, to boot!) and that seemed kinda dumb.

any battlesuit team leader is a character. as well as commanders and bodyguards. so a 3 man hq crisis team gets precision shots for the whole team!! I typically run two single broadside team leaders as seperate heavy support choices. now theyre actually heavy snipers :)
