Common Acronyms

Postby Big_Willie » Wed Feb 04, 2009 1:31 pm

Is a sticky with a list of common acronyms something that other people would be interested in? Most of this will be common place for veterans but could be very useful to those new commers to the hobby.

AC = Autocannon
B = Bolter
BC = Battle Cannon
BP = Bolt pistol
DC = Demolisher Cannon
ES = Earth Shaker Cannon
F = Flamer
GL = Grenade launcher
HB = Heavy Bolter
IC = Inferno Cannon or Indepent Character (I don't think that will get confused)
JP = Jump pack
LaC = Lascannons
LC = Lightning Claw
LG = Lasgun
LP = Laspistol
MB = Melta bombs
MC = Master crafted or Monstorus creature (again, shouldn't be an issue)
MG = Meltagun
ML = Missile launcher
MM = Multimelta
MuL = Multi-laser
PC = Plasma cannon
PF = Power fist
PG = Plasma gun
PP = Plasma pistol
PW = Power weapon
RG = Ripper gun
SB = Storm Bolter
SS = Storm Shield
TH = Thunder Hammer

To indicate something is twin linked just put a "T" in front (ie THB = twin linked heavy bolter)
Saves are number+ for normal and number++ for invulnerable (ie 2+/5++ for teminators)

I'm not sure about the other races but that should cover most of the Imperial and Chaos choices. Any other ones you guys can think of? Or is there something I should change in the above list?

I stickied it.

Be aware, however, that not everyone is gonna stick to this list. It's a good general guideline though.

This is a good idea to help people not familiar with them. It might be a good idea to place them in alphabetical order to assist people looking them up. Here's a few I use/see comonly that weren't on your list:
ATSKNF= And they shall know no fear
CCw = close combat weapon
DW = daemon weapon
FG = frag grenades
HF = heavy flamer
HtH = hand to hand
IoCG/K/N/T/S = Icon of chaos glory/Khorne/Nurgle/Tzeench/Slaanesh
MEQ = Marine equivalent
MoK/N/T/S = mark of Khorne/Nurgle/Tzeench/Slaanesh
RAc = Reaper autocannon
TDA = tactical dreadnought armour aka terminator armour

I'll post more as I think of them.

No, that would be broken. A host that doesn't need to worry about ammo, ugh... ;)

No, but the more pertinent question is "can I MC a Predator?"
