Calling All DMs!

Postby PrinceofDarkness » Tue May 04, 2010 11:47 am

Anyone out there a Dungeon Master? Anyone like to DM at Game Summit this year? Let me know!

We're on the lookout for anyone who may want to help out and DM a gaming session or three in the RPG den. It could be RPGA sanctioned, could be just a delve, could be 4e or possibly earlier. You let me know what you want to do and we'll see how we can work together to make it happen!

We do have the option of RPGA sanctioned modules so if you have RPGA/DCI number that's great! I'll have RPGA adventures on site that you can read ahead of the session to help you prepare. Also there will be DCI sign up forms for those running an event with new players who wish to report it.

If not, no worries, that's fine too. Simple straight up dungeon delves are always fun! We're flexible.

I'm signed up to assist as an ambassador in the RPG Den. Based on the last Game Summit I attended, this may or may not allow me to DM a session or two. I'll know more after the ambassdor meeting, but tentatively put me down as a DM, please. 4E only. I have a DCI number.

Presently working on: Dark Angel Veterans, Howling Banshees, Eldrad

I have 5,000 points of painted Dark Angels and love playing Apocalypse! Let me know if you want a game!

You're hired! I can give you 1 table with a morning and afternoon session on Sat. Let's stick with 4e and I can provide you with an adventure (you can run the same one each session which might be easier or I can give you 2 seperate ones). I'll be in touch with more details soon!

Thank you!

Great! I have you down as tentative and am also checking with the powers that be. With any luck I'll have you runnign games (4e RPGA) sat and sun if you're up for it! I'll be in touch soon and let me know what you find out at the ambassador meeting.

Thanks!

I help organize the Ottawa U RPGA game days each month. Let me know how many GM's you need and I should be able to get some for you. I spoke with maquis and JP at the Saturday event about this.

Here is what I would like to do for this event.

We order a bunch of RPGA Modules of various level ranges (for those not familiar, the ranges are 1-4, 4-7, 7-10, 11-14, 14-17 for now. We also have a bunch of faster, quicker stuff (probably D&D encounters events if possible) ready to go. I think this way we can cover both new players and experienced players.

For characters for new players here was my plan.
1. Ask what do you want your character to do, explain basic rolls
Leader: heal, make other characters stronger
Striker: high single target damage
Defender: high defenses and hit points, punish people who don't attack, you, protect your friends
Controller: Moderate damage to multiple targets, inhibit monsters form doing what they want

2. Suggest a few classes from that role and help player narrow down to one.
3. Suggest a race, help them choose powers, stats, feats etc. Characters don't need to be super optimized but should be functional and fun to play. No 14's in their primary stat etc.
4. After all mechanical stuff is done with the character, the player fills in characters personal details such as name, gender, age, hair color etc.

I would also like to if possible, bring my laptop with the character builder there and print the character sheets out for the player. I prefer to use printouts from the character builder as it eliminates the need for the new player to do the math of defenses etc, and means they don't have to refer to books to look up what their powers do during gameplay. This would mean we would need to obtain a printer and a power source on site, so I'm not sure if it is logistically feasible.

I will also be printing off a bunch of lower level characters as pregens we can just hand to people to play with.
