2000 point lizardmen for Cangames

Postby monkeypants » Sun Apr 11, 2010 4:10 pm

How does this list sound? its beaten my dwarfs, but they aren't the solidest army out there.

Lord
Saurus Oldblood - Hand weapon, light armour, shield, Cold One, Burning Blade of Chotec (-2 enemy armour save, flaming attacks), Enchanted Shield (+2 to armour save), Glyph Necklace (5+ ward) - 246 points

Heroes
Skink Priest - Hand weapon, level 2 wizard (lore of Heavens), dispel scroll, ancient stegadon with Engine of the Gods, Plaque of Tepok (1 extra spell), power stone (+2 dice to cast 1 spell) - 440 points

Skink Chief - Hand weapon, shield, light armour, Staff of the Lost Sun (16” range, S5, 3x multiple shots) - 94 points

Core
16 Saurus - Hand weapons, shields, spears, full command - 222 points

20 Saurus - Hand weapons, shields, full command - 250 points

12 Skink Skirmishers - Hand weapons, blowpipes, Skirmisher Brave - 90 points

16 Skink Skirmishers - Hand weapons, shields, javelins, Skirmisher Brave - 134 points

Special
7 Cold One Cavalry - Hand weapons, spears, shields, Cold Ones, full command, Sun Standard of Chotec (enemies at -2 to hit when shooting from within 12”, -1 to hit outside 12”) - 335 points

10 Temple Guard - Hand weapons, halberds, shields, light armour, full command, War Banner (+1 combat resolution) - 195 points

Like I said, they've beaten my dwarfs (whose list is posted on the forum too), but that doesn't mean much.
Does this army look sound? Or are there any changes that can be made to improve it?
All suggestions are welcome, but preferably ones that don't involve buying new stuff.
The only models left over that are not used in this army are two Kroxigor, and possibly a Saurus hero on foot and/or 16 more saurus if they present themselves before the tournament.
Looking forward to your feedback, eagerly as always.

Cheers,

Nobody has responded to this in several weeks.
I'll take that as meaning that it's good...

Hiya,

Sorry for the late reply.

It's an ok list, although the temple guard are a little small and will get quickly shot to death, you might consider swapping banner with the cold one unit as they could probably use the additional combat res.

I think you'll have too little magic to be effective in that area both offensively and defensively.

Where are you planning on putting the lord?

Cheers,

Spanky

The Lord goes in the unit of cavalry.
In practice, the skink priest acts like a 3rd level caster. I figure that isn't bad.
Yes, the oldblood has two shields. There were enough points left over, so I figured why not grab some insurance for those "destroy enemy magic items" weapons.

I don't think you can have two shields. It's an upgrade is it not?. In any case, if you have to play WYSIWYG, you'd have to put a second shield on him LOL.

With the lord in cav unit, that unit only has to take 1 casualty before he loses the look out sir rule. (There has to be 5 rank and file not including the unit champ to get the look out sir).

A single level 3 will have a rough time of it against most list which typical have 4+ levels and 2 scrolls. However, it's still very viable given the engines abilities. Are dispels scrolls and power stones cheaper for lizardmen (need to check on the total magic points but dont have my book handy).

Cheers,

Spanky.

It's a perfectly reasonable list. I would give it top comp marks.

Look forward to seeing it in action.
