Grot Tanks

Postby Zap Rowsdower » Thu Jul 08, 2010 9:11 am

I was just cruising around the Forge World site for the first time in a while when I saw these: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-4 ... TANKS.html

Does anyone have any info on them with regard to points, stats, etc.? There is a bit of info on the sight about them for Apocalypse games, but nothing useful for smaller games.

This is purely a guess but I'm going to assume the rules for them are in 'IMPERIAL ARMOUR EIGHT: RAID ON KASTOREL-NOVEM' (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/I ... NOVEM.html). Best way to findout is send them an email and ask.

They're found in the IA:8 book. Basic stats are 30 points a pop, BS3, AV10 all 'round.

(Full rules aren't usually allowed to be posted... but check your PMs :) )
40K Armies Played: Space Wolves, Space Sharks, Orks, Tau, eventually CSM (MSons + Bile)
Blood Bowl: Ought'Ta WAAAGH Roughriderz (Orcs), The North Spire Wendigoes (Norse) Iron-Wrath Krakens (Chaos Dwarfs, WIP), Scarlet Fliers (Dark Elves, WIP)
Heavy Gear Blitz/Arena: Peace River Defence Force, Paxton Gears in Arena
Necromunda: MacGuffin's Marauders (Van Saar)
Malifaux:Built: C.Hoffman Boxed: Rasputina, Pertitia, some extra models for both

(I'm Mike, by the way. Easier to remember than Tokkan, probably. DEFINITELY easier to pronounce)

They're small enough that you can also use them as Killa Kans if you want. Just throw on a couple of grappling arms for cc weapons.

Thanks guys, just wanted to get an idea of what the tanks were all about before potentially ordering them. But $90-ish for the book, then the models on top... Too rich for my blood. I like the Killa Kan idea, so we'll see what the future brings.

I don't see how these things are worth purchasing, really. I mean, yes, grot tanks, the idea is awesome, but why not just have kans? The zzap gun is the only thing I see on it that the kans don't get.

Not to go into too much detail for the rules (I'll bring my copy of IA:8 to GW on Saturday, if that helps), they're cheaper than Kans, you can get more of them (in theory, thought it'd cost a hell of a lot of teef if you don't kitbash/make more of them) in a unit, they can potentially move 12/13" and still shoot any weapon, can be given red paint, can have an extra heavy weapon in the unit... and they all have a 5+ invuln save.

Also, tank shocking with grot tanks is a lot more hilarious than charging into battle. :D

(Oh, and it's a Kustom Mega Blasta, not a Zzzap gun... So shorter range, but consistency.)

First they are Grots. This is awesome in and of itself.

Second, they are tanks.

They are in fact Grot Tanks...

I have been discreetly shown the light.

I retract my previous statement.

You could use em as buggies also. They are very awesome that they should be in regular 40k more often.
