Quick SW Runic Armour Question

Postby Tokkan » Thu Aug 19, 2010 10:33 am

Just looking for a confirmation more than anything, since I've started trying to rethink how I play 40K (to make sure I don't use rules the wrong way), especially after some of the more recent rules discussions.

Perils of the Warp wound wouldn't count as a psychic attack for the purposes of the 5+ invulnerable save provided by a set of Runic Armour for the Space Wolves, right? Even though it's (thematically, at least) due to your brain being blasted by the horrors experienced, or whatnot?
40K Armies Played: Space Wolves, Space Sharks, Orks, Tau, eventually CSM (MSons + Bile)
Blood Bowl: Ought'Ta WAAAGH Roughriderz (Orcs), The North Spire Wendigoes (Norse) Iron-Wrath Krakens (Chaos Dwarfs, WIP), Scarlet Fliers (Dark Elves, WIP)
Heavy Gear Blitz/Arena: Peace River Defence Force, Paxton Gears in Arena
Necromunda: MacGuffin's Marauders (Van Saar)
Malifaux:Built: C.Hoffman Boxed: Rasputina, Pertitia, some extra models for both

(I'm Mike, by the way. Easier to remember than Tokkan, probably. DEFINITELY easier to pronounce)

correct perils is not an attack but rather a consequence, you can use normal invul saves against it though.

Good to know! It also doesn't make the rune priests even more absurd, which I'm in favour of.

(Because if it did go through, that'd mean that Njal'd get a 4+ invuln save versus his own Perils hits in his pimped out Terminator armour, instead of 5+, and normal RPs'd have a Perils protection most psykers wouldn't have. Uh. Other than Zoanthropes or Eldar, of course.)

A storm shield gives a librarian a 3+ inv against perils.... the heck?
Don't even get me started on combat shields ;)

I ALSO forgot that Njal's RTDA gives him a flat 4+ invuln save, no limiters on it.

(Though, he'd still need to reroll a successful save from PotW, due to "The power of the Warp being so great". For some reason, I'd forgotten that rule for Psykers)

Except for the Eldar, them tricksy space elves with their 3+, don't have to re-roll business... :D It makes sense though, they are the psychic Masters of the Universe

they are the He-Man of psychic powers.

the SS 3+ perils re-roll is a little silly, but if your libby is alone (only reason i would pay for it) you just might be doing something wrong lol.

its a 3+ ghosthelm, and if you fail you can still take the 4+ rune armor save which must be rerolled if passed like any other invul save.
