And back on topic...

I'm not sure how good this army will be espeically in 8th ed with VC magic being nerfed. I do like the idea and if you want to try it out, bring it GW on a Tuesday and get some games in...

Just to keep a conversation going over here (and to see if we can make this the most read thread on the site since we are well on our way....) ...

What makes you think that VC magic is nerfed? I admit to not having games under my belt as my army is still in the being assembled / grey category .. but I am a frequent lurker on the Carpe Noturn forum and I don't think the general concensus of VC players is that magic is now under powered. MOTBA for 2 extra power dice is a good start to making sure you are going to be able to case and if I am not mistaken there is some other way to get a couple more as well (someone was talking about adding 4 dice on the site ... can't remember the details).

Anyway the math they used was if an average roll is 7 for winds... and lets just pretend that it was a 4 / 3 ... the VC player could have 9 (or 11 if you find that other trick) dice ... to 4 dispel. Even if it was closer they can have a good if not overpowering advantage to casting, certainly enough to get off a few heal units where really needed ...

Add to that they fact that at a lord level they have access to evey lore except life and you have some powerful optoins open to you...

Surely there must be a VC Player or two on this forum who can jump in with some practical tales... ? 2000 + views.. 1 more VC player to chime in ?

It's the healing. Before you could throw a single die multi times, eating opponents dispel die etc..

But now, you cannot risk throwing a single die becuase if you fail to make the cast value of the spell, that wizard is done for the turn.

Also, none of the spells are able to be duplicated across wizards so the threat of multiple winds of undeath, multiple curses, mutiliple van hells in no longer there...

They went from a tier 1 over powered army to middle/lower end of the pack.

Still a great fun army to play, dont get me wrong, just their magic has become unimpressive.

I just thougth I woudl add that the most recent FAQ killed this list as they added that you have to have a vampire as a general again.
Not sure why they thought that needed fixing more than any of the other issues out there ... but hey, at least it is clear and to the point.

To bad, I rather liked my ubber tough 3 wound hero leading my little lists :)
