Ard boyz Lizzie list ..

Anyone else read about this one at ArdBoyz ....


lizzy:
1X 127 Saurus
1X Slann (as mean as you can immagine with the 100 pts object: foldable tower
2 other filler with minimum points involved...

Basically this guy will bunker his 130 saurus in his tower and the slann is going to nuke the hell out of everyone. The unit is almost immune to anything as huge spell like purple sun and pit of shade will only take D6 fig out ... Wamrachine the same and only 10 fig at a time can fight in the tower. So the slann is virtually immune to everything and he see everyone for the entire game ( even miscast only affect D6 fig)


Just curious ...

there is no max number of models that can go in a bulding is there?

Also what do you mean by mistcast d6 fig? are you reffering to the slann miscast redirect thing?

he means that when you are in a building and something bad happens (like a template) it affects only d6 models not everyone that would normally be under a template.

My question would be, what makes him think he'll get the building he needs...

What happens when you do more wounds in combat then his ten models and he's kicked out of the building...

Up against Skaven with plenty of spells of Ruin, this list would probably get killed.
It's nice to have the building, but if the Skaven have Cracks Call, they can pretty much crush it and most of the I1 Saurus inside.
That being said, there's no guarantee that they do get the right spell for the job, and the list would most likely not always be playing Skaven.
So against other armies, this list would probably be pretty killer. However, it's got almost no aggressive potential besides the slann, so even with that impressive spellcasty goodness the list could flop. A slann, no matter how good he is, is still only one caster.
This is just my opinion. It's not like it matters.

100 point common item is a watchtower ... so they just take their own and they will always have a building.

even if you manage 10 wounds, lets say Branchwraith get very luck on the attack.. he still strikes back with 10 saurus unless everyone is misreading building combat (certainly not impossible).... and saurus as strong and tough .. it would be lucky indeed to win combat by 5 or more .... and even if he loses by 5 .. cold blooded ... so three dice pick low two, and reroll if you have your banner near or in ... so odds are good they will stick...

I am not saying it is a good list, or even a fun one, I was just wondering what people thought of it.

it's a interesting list.. but if opponent has something that can keep you in combat with him forever then he has rest of his army free to do anything they want.. which in most cases isn't good..
I don't know about other races as I found to be more fun to play against them when they can give you surprises but just from HE point of view, I can either cast a spell that nullify that item or take a magic item that nullify all magic item with 6'' and no mage may cast within 6'' so that's atleast 2 ways of counter the tower.

It's not a leadership to stay in the building is it? I think it's just whoever does more wounds between those ten models fighting...

At work, so rules not in front of me ... but I though it was combat res after the battle as normal .. but no banners, no charge bonus .. just based on wounds and you break as normal. Someone with a book can double check in the combat / building section.

Again, I did not think this would be fun to play but it is interesting.

In our group the little GW tower is nomrally rated 3 stories (so 15 shots). Another use would be to put say 20 WE Archers with banner that lets them stand and shoot regardless of distance of change in a building, but that is a lot of points for that item so not sure it would be worth it, but it would be interesting and make for some fun modeling options ... WE building = grow a tree with platforms .. Lizzies raise a small pyramid... Orcs mash together a giant dung heap ... Slanesh summon a giant quiverring boob... dwarves actually build a tower ... lots of optoins....

The list looks tough but not unbeatable :) (Especially with more lizards)

Combat in a building is count wounds only, BUT the defender is always stubborn ... if the Slann is a BSB rerollable ld 9. And then combat breaks the fight up each turn (so the slann can still cast)

But I think you could chalenge the Slann in the building and he has to accept (or another character, Champion has to)(there are no ranks to hide in ;-))
So a Hero on stegadon ... d6 +1 Impact hits vs unit ... attacks on slann ... d6 thunder stomp on slann (maybe ? IIRC) ;-) ) vs Toughness 4, 5 wounds 4+ ward save and He gets a single strength 3 attack ...
But any character on a "big" monster/demon lord should get the job done :)

A spell like dwellers below would still hurt :D the slann has to pass a strength (3) test or die :)
and 127 strength 4 tests for the saurus ;)

Also salamander fire could still deal some damage (3 salamanders = 3d6 strength 3 hits (re-rollable to wound(fire vs buildings)) at -3 to save (aka no save))

Since the players choose which models are in the combat, the lizardman player can choose to leave the slann out...thus no challenge...
