Lessons Learned

Reach and Arc nodes:

"confusing "in melee" with "engaged"

If something without reach is within 2" of the lancer, the lancer is "in melee" and is "engaging" the enemy model, however, it is not "engaged"

You only lose arc capability when you are engaged. Not when you are in melee or engaging.

So the lancer can in fact stab at non-reach models and still arc."

wow.

Woah, that's huge. Also explains why my revenger has the same deal, shield and halberd with 2" reach.

So really, I should be playing my Revenger by charging in, whacking, using repulsor shield to push the enemy model away and then arcnode through it?

Yeah, your Revenger is a step above the Lancer, with the repulsor shield - since you push things away if you need to arc node through him. My Lance 'Jack can arc node of the enemy is 2" away, but not if they close the gap to 1/2" and I become engaged.

Definitely opens up some interesting tactics for us!

Yeah no kidding! I was reading that the warcaster Amon is recommended to have two of the Revengers because of their arcnode/repulsor shield ability.

Your mileage may vary on using Revengers with Amon. The combo has 2 things going for it: Powerful Charge to start the Synergy chain, and a self-freeing Arc Node for Amon's Convection spell. If you tend not to use Convection often, you likely won't get the most out of the Revengers. I run Amon regularly, usually with 1 Revenger, and I find that it is enough since I commonly only use Convection on the feat turn.

That's why all my units have reach themselves. As useful for defense as offense!
