Necrons - 2000 -

Postby Berserker » Tue Nov 15, 2011 8:19 pm

Ok, I believe that I have a better grasp of the new codex so here is my 1st attempt at a list with the new toys.

P.S: I tried my best to get stuff I already have models for to minimize cost.

-HQ-
Nemesor Zahndrekh - 185 -
-Royal court-
3 Crypteks
Harbinger of Despair - 55 -
Veil of Darkness

Harbinger of Destruction - 45 -
Solar Pulse

Harbinger of Transmogrification - 50 -
Harp of Dissonance

-HQ-
Vargard Obyron - 160 -
**Because Nemesor is in the same list he doesn't use a HQ slot**

-Troops-
10 Immortals - 170 -
Tesla carbine -all-

-Troops-
10 Immortals - 170 -
Tesla carbine -all-

10 Immortals - 170 -
Tesla carbine -all-

-Elite-
5 Deathmarks - 95 -

-Elite-
C'Tan Shard - 220 -
Swarm of Spirit Dust, Pyreshards

-Fast-
6 Wraiths - 270 -
Particle caster -all-
Whip coils - 3 of 6 -

-Heavy-
Doomsday ark - 175 -

-Heavy-
Doomsday ark - 175 -

-Heavy-
1 Spyder - 60 -
Fabricator Claw

2000 Pts

The idea I have in mind is rather complex so I'll take it step by step.

1: Nemesor will primarily be used to buff 1 unit choice per turn and debuff 1 enemy choice per turn as that is what he's good for and for safety reason join a squad of Immortals.

2: Varguard as the same good old veil of darkness from the old codex now called the ghost mantle which allows him to teleport himself and the unit he is joined with EVEN IF THERE IN COMBAT making him good to control my opponents charges.

3: Harbinger of despair will be attached, joined, whatever term you like to use with the deathmarks so if anything gets dangerously close to them it can teleport them to a safe distance.

4: The other 2 Harbinger will as I said above be attached, joined , yatta yatta with the remaining 2 immortal groups to do what they do best mess stuff up.

5: C'Tan Shard and the 6 Wraiths will stick together to act as a counter charge unit

6: The spyder will stick near the 2 doomsday ark to repair any damage they might take.

The only thing i really need to buy is the doomsday ark's, deathmarks and after I do a test game or two I might revert my immortals with gauss blasters I dunno if i do then I only need to buy 2 boxes. the HQ's choice i have plenty of bits to make a custom conversion of so best case scenario I buy 2 doomsday arks and 3 Immortal/deathmark boxes and 3 crypteks so not to pricey.

I don't think you can have three different types of Crypteks in the same list...

My understand is that you can take one Royal Court per HQ, and each Royal Court is limited to a single type of Cryptek...

(edit : oops, didn't notice the note about Nemesor... that's interesting... very interesting...)

I think what you are refering to in the rules you are misreading, as the rule you mean has to do with limiting a cryptek to only being upgraded as a harbinger once.

that's the thing the rule entry says I cannot mix wargear from two different harbringer type so I can have 5 cryptek each with a different type if I want it but as long as they keep to the gear related with there type there legal.

exemple if i take a harbring of despair I can only take gear for the despair list and so anything else destruction, transmogification, etc... is off limits.

Ah... ok. I guess I must have mis-understood it reading through the rule. I get what you both are saying now. (My original interpretation of the text was that each Royal Court could only be upgraded one specific Harbinger type, as opposed to each model which is what it's actually saying...)

Alright I rechecked the codex again and come to the conclusion that this list was leaning towards the poor side as the anti tank was almost non existent so I re-tough my list and came up with this instead.

-HQ-
Overlord - 180 -
Warscythe
Catacomb command barge
Replace Telsa cannon for Gauss cannon

Royal court - 175 -
5 crypteks
Harbinger of destruction 5/5
Solar Pulse 1/5

-Elite-
C'Tan shard - 250 -
Transdimentional Thunderbolt
Swarm of Spirit dust

C'Tan shard - 235 -
Writhing Worldscape
Pyreshards

-Troops-
10 Immortals - 170 -

10 Immortals - 170 -

10 Immortals - 170 -

-Fast Attack-
5 Destroyers - 240 -
Heavy destroyers 2/5

-Heavy-
Doomsday Ark - 175 -

Doomsday Ark - 175 -

Spyder - 60 -
Fabricator claw

-2000-

-shooting wise the list as a maximum of the following shots-

2 shot at 72" S9 AP1 large blast

1 shot at 36" S9 AP2
5 shot at 36" S8 AP2
3 shot at 36" S9 AP2

8 shot at 24" S5 AP3

30 shots at 24" S5 AP4 rapid fire

8 shot at 18" S4 AP-

3 attackS at varying range but at best can be 24" S7 ignore AV and CV. ( this attack lets me choose which models gets kill to if I roll a 6 to hit )

Except for the Immortals and 1 C'tan everything in the list shot a weapon with a AP value of 3 or better making this list effective at killing power armor and still have enough amount of shots to give a horde army a hard time as well.

So compared to my first list I believe this one will be much more effective.

It does look like an effective shooting list, but what will you do in the case of lists that are in combat within 2 turns, you may want to make some adjustments to add a counter charge or delay in or 2 in, like a small unit of lychguard or some scarabs or wraiths or more spyders.

another thing to note is are you planning on leaving the cryteks on their own as a unit or are they going to join other units? I ask because I tried the sit them on their own last night and they are a very fragile target even with an overlord as an ablative wound in my case. so you might want to consider a couple lords to add to their unit as both the combat boost and ablative wounds and with 1 with a res orb so that you get a 4+ instead of 5+ reconstruct.

Well here is the thing I was considering dropping enough point to had Nemesor and have him give the cryptek stealth every turn.
