necron Royal court questions.

Postby Berserker » Wed Nov 16, 2011 10:49 pm

Ok here is something I am unsure.

the overlord's royal court shows 0-5 lords and 0-5 crypteks so my interpretation would be I have have 1 overlord with a 10 man court 5 lords and 5 crypteks all together.

My reasoning is since cryptek staff of light upgrades are not unique I was thinking what if a 5 destruction crypteks with eldrich lance and 5 lords would make a nice range unit that also as a good CC bite in case something gets too close to them and as odd as it sound the lords in this unit would be the sacrificial lambs in case said unit goes under fire.

So is my assumption correct is 5 lords and 5 crypteks a maximum for a lord or is it 5 cryptek or 5 lords hopefully they can be mixed so it would make a really nice unit.

necron Royal court questions.

My view on this is try to think of royalcourts as a unit by themselves which like wolfguard can be split up to lead squads of their own, or be a "honor guard" unit that can join with an HQ. It appears you can have 5 lords and 5 crypteks it seems.

That is what I find confusing the entry only says that each overlord can have a single royal court compossing of 0-5 lord; 0-5 cryptek and I see that being either lord of cryptek or both can be added for a total of 10.

Once I get home I'll post a exact transcript of the rule so you can better understand as I think I might be phrasing it wrong.

My understanding ... An Overlord is an Independent Character. A Royal Court is an unit of 1-10 Characters, that is, from 0-5 Lords and from 0-5 Crypteks. The inclusion of an Overlord allows the inclusion of a Royal Court. An Overlord and a Royal Court are separate units. The inclusion of a second Overlord allows the inclusion of a second Royal Court. An Overlord can "join" a Royal Court.

So basicly my assumtion is correct it is possible to make such a squad and it wuld be one of the best shooting/CC unit thearmy as BUT it will be expensive as heck as just plain its around 400 pts so very pricey.

yes the court can be 1-10 models made from crypteks and lords. It can make a mean looking unit in the end.

Nice, I would have gone through the rest of my days thinking it was pick lords or pick crypteks and not both (well until I came across a list with more than 5  ) It sure could make a nice hammer unit!
