Ver. 3 How are people finding it

A game for those who like their World War II re-enactments very, very small.

I've had aircraft in all games I've played in the last few weeks. A skilled enemy will hug terrain and prevent automatic range in.

I also found that armoured car recce teams are no where near as good in assaults where they get pinned by 5 hits now!

I think the big thing is just like Adam said start using them for eyes and ears vs leading the assault.

Which armoured car recce teams are getting pinned? Am I missing a rule or are the Pumas immune because they are tank teams?

Usually what I'll do is pair 1 or 2 Puma platoons with a Panzergren force. The first Puma force lifts GtG and fires, second fires, Grens assault...

Hugging terrain is SO important now that planes are as good as they are. Staying within 2" of forests or buildings means the the defending platoon forces the planes to take a roll to range in versus automatically doing it.

Finally I figured out a nasty little trick: I always keep my Puma 1iC within 8" of the Panthers. If he gets blown up there is a 50% chance he gets upgraded to a 1iC Panther due to the warrior save! Woot!

All tank teams that are recee teams get pinned by 5 hits, the rule says that you have to be a fully armored tank team that is not a recee team to not get pinned in the assault by 5 hits. Also because pumas are not top armor 1 they are not fully armored tank teams so would get pinned by 5 hits as well. The 2 effective hits thing counts for all armored vehicles thou so pumas could get pinned by either of those situations.

So you'd have to use luchs in that case?

Mike got a page number quote on those rules? seems huge and shocking that I would have missed that. It reduces the Universal Carrier from Awesome to just "Decent' if true.

I don't have the book with me at work, but I will look up the page number when I go home for lunch.

Found it. Page 154.

If all of the Assaulting teams are Fully-armoured vehicles (other than Recce teams), they do not Fall Back if they take five or more hits from Defensive Fire.

However, if two or more Armoured vehicles (whther Open-topped or Fully-armoured) are Bailed Out or Destroyed by Defensive Fire, the platoon much Fall Back.

So I would interpret this to mean that my Pumas (and your UCs), because they are NOT fully armoured and are Recce, are subject to normal pinning rules and the two Bailed Out and Destroyed rule due to the fact that they are Armoured vehicles (just not fully) and are also Recce.

Which makes sense. What is Recce doing assaulting?

Ya that is the part I was thinking of, thanks for posting it.

Kind of sucks for the Luchs and British Stuarts, I didn't realize that recee teams thing was in there either until yesterday. The skill test for eyes and ears is a big change to, there are so many changes to recee teams that it is hard to keep track of, plus they had allot of rules to start.

I still want to play some of the recon missions against another recon company sometime, that would be interesting I think.

Thanks;
