Game Description:
Heavy Gear Blitz is a tactical miniatures game or wargame. Like a traditional board game, players take turns making decisions that can lead to victory or defeat. Unlike a traditional board game, each player can customize their army with countless choices to suit their own tactical preferences.

The back-story of Heavy Gear takes place on the human colony world of Terra Nova, about 4000 years in the future.  Terra Nova was colonized in the 52nd century, during a great period of expansion when Earth and humanity stretched out across the stars.  However, the Earth government stretched itself and its resources too thinly, resulting in an economic and political collapse and a consolidation of humanity's assets back on Earth. This led to a massive panic as Earth abandoned its colonies, leading these scattered populations trapped and left to fend for themselves. Terra Nova was one such colony, and Heavy Gear is the story of its nations, their battles, and the humanoid fighting machines known as 'Gears' which revolutionized warfare, but still fight alongside tanks, massed infantry, and other engines of war.

The Heavy Gear story really kicks off about 2000 years after the Terra Nova colony was first established, as a newly-reformed Earth government once again looks out toward the stars, and turns its eyes toward the old colonies and plots their reclamation by any means necessary.
